PhysioKey is a development of SCENAR technology, which was invented by a team of Russian scientists in the 1960s and ’70s as part of the space programme. They felt that something was needed to treat cosmonauts who became unwell or injured in space, since medications could not be carried or used.

SCENAR is an acronym which works in English as well as in Russian – Self-Controlled Electro Neuro Adaptive Regulator. In developing the device, the Russian scientists drew on the science of eastern medicine, such as acupuncture meridians, and energy medicine, as well as conventional western physiology.
